La iconoclasia en el arte contemporáneo. El atonalismo de Schönberg y la abstracción de Kandinsky
Iconoclasm in contemporary art. Schönberg's atonalism and Kandinsky's abstraction
Abstract
In this article I try to point out, on the one hand, the relationship between the Jewish iconoclastic tradition and Schönberg’s atonalism and, on the other, the Byzantine iconoclastic tradition and Kandinsky’s pictorial abstraction. To do this, in the first place, it is necessary to justify that not only the image but also its absence should be the object of attention by Aesthetic Theology, being iconoclasm, in its broad sense, a persistent phenomenon. After a brief review of the foundations of the Jewish and Byzantine prohibition, I will analyze the relationship between these two traditions and specific biographical facts of both authors, to try to see references to this relationship in their works.
