The religious fact from the perspective of the sciences of religion

The complexity of the religious fact requires that it be studied from various epistemological perspectives. After reflecting on the distinction between the factual dimension, inherent in religious sciences, the ontological perspective characteristic of the phenomenology of religion, and the critical and normative perspective of the philosophy of religion, this paper analyses the challenges that current scientific advances (cosmology, biology and psychology) pose to the reasonableness of faith. Faced with the tendency of reductionist naturalisms and religious fundamentalisms, which defend the incompatibility between science and faith, this paper tries to defend their convergence and fruitful complementarity.
